Libor Šmoldas from Prague is widely considered to be one of Europe's leading jazz guitarists. Critics have praised his smooth, effortless and melodic approach, as well as his apparent love of jazz and his audience.
He has worked, toured and recorded with James Morrison, Bobby Watson, Jon Faddis, George Mraz, Jeff Ballard, Adam Nussbaum, Gregory Hutchinson, Sam Yahel, Brian Charette and other international stars.
Libor performs at the world's most prestigious jazz venues including Ronnie Scott's and Pizza Express in London, Smalls and Iridium in New York City, B flat in Berlin, Le Duc des Lombards in France, Porgy and Bess in Vienna, Recital Center in Melbourne as well as numerous Blue Notes and Birdlands across the map.
Libor has released eleven albums as a leader and many more as a sideman. Their range streches from solo guitar to large ensembles, and they include wide variety of jazz genres including his own original music. Though firmly anchored in straight-ahead jazz and bebop, Libor's style spans modern jazz, Brazilian music, blues, funk, soul jazz and beyond.
Libor is widely considered to be one of the best jazz musicians in the Czech Republic and a good ambassador of Czech jazz appearing on both European and world stages.
