cs Guitarist Libor Šmoldas Releases Album Recorded In New York With Top International Jazz Musicians
Rising Czech guitarist and composer Libor Šmoldas has released his second album IN NEW YORK ON TIME on the ANIMAL MUSIC label. As the title suggests, the album was recorded in New York, and with top-notch musicians such as pianist Sam Yahel (Joshua Redman, Norah Jones, Madeleine Peyroux, Sam Yahel Trio), Czech-American contrabassist George Mraz, and drummer Jeff Ballard (Fly, Brad Mehldau Trio, Pat Metheny, Avishai Cohen, Maria Schneider, Joshua Redman, Chick Corea, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ben Allison). Two of the tracks feature vocals by Šmoldas’ wife Zeurítia (whose debut album ZEURÍTIA was released by ANIMAL MUSIC in 2008). The album contains original pieces by Šmoldas as well as instrumental arrangements of tunes from My Fair Lady by the legendary Frederick Loewe.
The sound quality of the album is remarkable. The raw tracks were recorded by engineer Katherine Miller at Tedesco Studios, mixed by Milan Cimfe at Sono Records, and mastered by Gene Paul at DB Plus Digital Services. The album cover was designed by renowned graphic artist Aleš Najbrt in cooperation with photographer Michal Nanor, using pictures taken in the recording studio. The album was made possible with the generous support of sponsor firms ADVAL, ACTA M, GAUDÍ, PASSERINVEST, ADASTRA, JANIGALABS and APOSTILLER.
IN NEW YORK ON TIME was released on September 1, 2010 and christened at Prague’s Jazz Dock; that same day by caricaturist Štěpán Mareš.
